You Know You’re a Triathlete When….

September 14, 2011

from Coach Valerie

  1. You used to drink water; now you rehydrate.
  2.  A rest day means “just” a swim workout.
  3.  Good sex means quick and simple while you’re still awake (you know you’re  a real triathlete when great sex means no sex).
  4.  You draw a distinction between yourself and your body (e.g. “My body is  tired.”)
  5.  You used to have sympathy for your spouse if he/she was coming down with  a cold.  Now it’s, “Go sleep in the other room.”
  6. Somebody asks your age and you answer “30-35.”
  7. You re-set the car odometer every time you drive to the grocery store.
  8. You come home from a training run on a new route and go out and drive it  right away to get the exact distance for the log book.
  9.  Your car has a flat and you change it in 90 seconds
  10. The tires on your bicycle cost more than the ones on your car  – and your bike costs more than your car.
  11.  You know you’ve gone over the edge when you sand down the manufacturer’s logos on your new rims to save weight
  12.  You can recite every one of your race splits (including transition times) since 1995, but you can’t remember your license plate number.
  13.  You know you’re a real triathlete if you’re most often asked, “all in one day?”
  14.  You’ve spent a total of 20 weeks in Hawaii but have never sat on a beach.
  15.  You’re actively seeking a job transfer to Boulder or San Diego
