- You used to drink water; now you rehydrate.
- A rest day means “just” a swim workout.
- Good sex means quick and simple while you’re still awake (you know you’re a real triathlete when great sex means no sex).
- You draw a distinction between yourself and your body (e.g. “My body is tired.”)
- You used to have sympathy for your spouse if he/she was coming down with a cold. Now it’s, “Go sleep in the other room.”
- Somebody asks your age and you answer “30-35.”
- You re-set the car odometer every time you drive to the grocery store.
- You come home from a training run on a new route and go out and drive it right away to get the exact distance for the log book.
- Your car has a flat and you change it in 90 seconds
- The tires on your bicycle cost more than the ones on your car – and your bike costs more than your car.
- You know you’ve gone over the edge when you sand down the manufacturer’s logos on your new rims to save weight
- You can recite every one of your race splits (including transition times) since 1995, but you can’t remember your license plate number.
- You know you’re a real triathlete if you’re most often asked, “all in one day?”
- You’ve spent a total of 20 weeks in Hawaii but have never sat on a beach.
- You’re actively seeking a job transfer to Boulder or San Diego
